How to Get The Best Prom Spray Tan

If you are considering a Prom Spray Tan you need to take extra precautions. It would be unfortunate if you paid for that special super expensive dress, most dainty shoes, professional hairstyle and makeup, only to have it all ruined by a patchy or orange spray tan. A little bit of preparation goes a long way. Here are a few steps that will help you achieve a flawless Prom Spray Tan:

1. If you have never had a spray tan before, you need to have a trial run. Just because your girlfriend gets a great spray tan in her favorite salon does not mean that you will have the same results.

Human skin can be very unpredictable, and you need to find the right spray tanning solution for your skin.

While it is very likely that you will get a fantastic tan the first time around, there is a small chance that you will have to try a different solution that will give your skin a better color.

2. Never be tempted to have a dark sunless tan. Not only does it look bad on the photos, but if anything goes wrong, it is very, very hard to correct.

The chance for a dark spray tan turning orange is considerably higher than for a light one. Keep in mind that your prom will be held at night, so even a light spray tan will appear darker. If you have a dark spray tan it might appear downright scary.

3. If possible, ask for a solution that does not contain much of a bronzer (it is just a vegetable dye that is there for the technician to see if they missed any spots), especially if you are wearing a light color dress for your prom.

Even though most of the bronzer will wash off during your first shower, some of it will get into your pores and can stain your dress.

4. If you need to shave or wax before your prom spray tan, do it about 1-2 days in advance. If you do it immediately before tanning, the solution will get into your pores and give you “spotty look” as well as possibly causing some irritation.

5. The best time for your tanning treatment is 2 days before the prom, so not only does the tan have the time to develop properly, but also you can correct any imperfections without any panic.

6. Lastly, make sure that you have enough of a tan extending lotion. It is a cream or a lotion that contains a small amount of DHA solution that gradually builds up a tan. It is perfect for correcting any imperfections without adding too much color.

It is much easier to have to do two applications of this cream than to have to scrub tan off if you applied too much of a full strength self tanning lotion.

7. Make sure that your face is lighter than the rest of your body. Your make up will look much better. It is much easier for a make up artist to give you sun-kissed look with a touch of bronzer than have to apply lots of lighter foundation giving you that “caked on” look.

If you are having an airbrush tan, then ask for the lightest of sprays on the face. If you are having your Prom Spray Tan in a booth, make sure that you wipe your face really well straight after, maybe even with a wet towelette to achieve just a lightest shade of color.
