The Best Makeup Remover for YOU!
Choose the best makeup remover for YOUR skin type-whether oily, combo, normal or dry... First determine your skin type. OILY- You get shiny during the day and have to keep applying powder to keep the oil at bay. COMBO- Parts of your skin get oily (usually the forehead, nose and chin), while other parts of your face remain dry. NORMAL- Lucky you! Your skin remains in balance, with no excessive oiliness or dryness. DRY/MATURE- Your skin often feels tight or parched and wrinkles easily. NOW! Here's a breakdown on the best makeup remover for each skin type: OILY You can get away with stronger cleansers as you already produce too much oil. I recommend a cleanser that is NOT oil-based. (Oils can be good for your skin, but not while cleansing. You need to REALLY clean your face well, and then apply the proper moisturizer). The best makeup remover for you is a good natural soap (bar or liquid form). Simply apply with your hands in the morning, but at night, I recommend either a microdermabrasion cloth or some such exfoliating item. You need to lift off the dull cells clogging your pores, so that they don't lead to acne. Yucko! This is key. Do this every night, without fail and you will be amazed at your skin. Try it. I swear by it. Always avoid almond oil, cocoa butter, and other such ingredients on OILY skin, if you have a tendency to break out. Unless you just WANT to end up looking like a pizza face, avoid these ingredients, even in skin creams. Make sure to remove all your makeup, as you don't want to fall asleep with anything left on your face from the day. Pollution, dust, dirt, etc, all collect on your makeup throughout the day and you need to remove it all at night. Follow with the proper moisturizer for your skin. (A WORD ON SOAPS: Natural soaps are made with oils... don't let the ingredient list confuse you. During the soap-making process, the oils react chemically with the sodium hydroxide (lye) and water, thus producing... SOAP. This is a new compound. A new creation. Imagine the soap particles as being many small tails. One end of the tail is attracted to dirt and cleans it off your skin. The other is attracted to water and pulls the entire tail, dirt and all, in that direction. And thus it all rinses away down the drain. SO COOL, huh? ) COMBO- I recommend following the same procedure as the OILY skin people do (read above). However, you might wish to follow with TWO moisturizers; a richer one for your dry areas and a lighter cream for the oily areas. NORMAL- Again, LUCKY YOU! You can basically use anything. If you never break out (BRAT!!!) then feel free to experiment and find the best makeup remover for you personally. I always prefer to go natural, natural, natural, as your body is designed for natural things, not synthetic compounds. But let your conscience be your guide and try different things. I still recommend exfoliating nightly, without fail. You can use a microdermabrasion cloth, sugar, ground oatmeal, milk, mashed strawberry mask, etc). (A WORD ON EXFOLIATION: There are two types: Physical and chemical. Physical exfoliation involves actually scrubbing the dead skin cells off your face PHYSICALLY. Chemical exfoliation involves applying a substance with some form of acid usually, that chemically breaks up the "glue" or bonds holding the skin cells together. That sounds scary, doesn't it? But regular milk or strawberries as listed above, have varying types of acid that are very gentle. I love strawberries the best. Just mash 'em and apply 'em for 15 minutes. Rinse. GORGEOUS!) DRY/MATURE- You have a tendency to get wrinkly and parched. If you do use a natural soap, make sure it is super-fatted (just ask the seller). This means that more oils were included in the soap formula than needed to react with the lye and water... thus some oils do remain in the final product. This is great for you, but not good for oilier skin types. Probably the best makeup remover for you, though, is a cream-based cleanser. These are usually similar in formula to an actual face cream, but are really thick and more oily. Simply rub onto skin and wipe clean with a damp cloth, cotton ball or dry tissue. Follow with the cream of your choice, preferably a natural anti wrinkle cream, even if you are young. It is never too early to start with wrinkle-prevention! And there you have it! Now you know how to choose the best makeup remover for your skin type. Nothing fancy needed! Natural products work excellently well. Don't be pulled into the latest and greatest acne-killing, anti-aging, sun-blocking, water-sphere, skin-matching miracle formula. Hate to break it to ya, but most of them are just money-gimmicks. Of course you KNEW that, but they can be quite convincing. And again, just experiment. Your face should have these characteristics after using the best makeup remover for you: 1. Soft, Smooth to the touch, with no flaking 2. Flexible and Normal/ NOT Tight 3. Clean and Fresh 4. Clear and Healthy Should any of the above be out of whack, consider changing your cleanser or face cream. Also make sure to not use any products with harsh, synthetic ingredients on the face, as you never know the damage they are causing in the long run. Happy Cleansing!
