Mineral Makeup for Sensitive Skin

You don't have to worry about odd-ball chemicals, preservatives, fillers, or other such ingredients that might otherwise break your skin out or cause it to flush and become irritated.

Minerals are very pure and natural, containing only the necessary ingredients for perfect makeup.

When searching out a mineral brand, look at the ingredients listing before buying. Some DO contain unwanted ingredients, like methyl paraben, propyl paraben, etc. Avoid these. Look for ingredients like:

• Titanium Dioxide-offers coverage and sunscreen
• Zinc Oxide-offers coverage and sunscreen
• Iron Oxides or Ultramarines-give color
• Mica-for a soft, creamy feel and texture and light-diffusing properties
• Etc.

I do recommend staying away from any formula with Bismuth Oxychloride as this is known to itch and irritate some people's skin. Some companies include it for its pearlescence.

Also stay away from talc, as it isn't good to breathe.

If you have sensitive skin, the brush you choose to use is just as important as the makeup. I really recommend using a synthetic brush, rather than natural hair. Most (all but the most expensive) natural hair brushes can be just slightly itchy and scratchy on those with more delicate skin. Good quality synthetic brushes can last for years and will feel like silk on your skin. I use one every day and love it.

When selecting skin care for sensitive skin, make sure it is as natural and simple as possible. Try to avoid any product with a long list of ingredients you can't pronounce. Each one of those ingredients has the potential to irritate your skin. Try using natural oils, butters and gels (like aloe vera) to moisturize your skin. Stop using commercial cleansers, toners, masks, creams, treatments and other such items. Either buy your facial products online from a natural or organic skin care company, or go to your local health food store and try some of their products.
