Eyeliner Made Easy!
Eyeliner is great for everyone! Choose the best type and color! Apply with ease ! Just about anybody can use this makeup item. It can change the look of your eyes and face dramatically! It is so versatile too! You can apply it for a very natural look, or create more intense looks if you wish. TYPES: I prefer a loose powder mineral makeup eyeliner. They last all day, wash away easily at night and look so natural. You can even wet them for a more intense look if you like. If you get the right color, it can also be applied as eye shadow. You can even mix different colors to create your own custom shade! Other types include: -liquid (sets fast and creates a very defined look) -gel (depending upon the brand, these normally set very fast and give a rather defined look) -pressed (these look like pressed eye shadows... they give a softer look if applied lightly, or a more defined look if you use a stiff, small brush or wet your brush first) -pencil (probably one of the more popular types... these are easy to use, as you simply rub onto rim of eyelid and smudge as desired. You can achieve a variety of effects. ) BASIC APPLICATION: I'll assume you are using loose powder liner, but any type is fine. Choose your favorite. Dip your eyeliner brush into your powder and tap off any excess. Begin at the outer corner of the eye and apply to lower eye lids. Dip back into powder and apply to upper eye lids, also beginning at the outer edge of the eye. I normally recommend only going about 3/4 of the way to the inner corner of the eye. Smudge with fingers if desired, for a more natural look, or apply a second coat for a more intense look. If you like a darker look, you can wet your brush first, then dip into the powders. Create a paste in the lid, then apply. This will create a nice foil effect with metallic shimmer mineral makeup eye powders. TIPS: Close-set eyes: To make your eyes appear farther apart, line the outer edges of your eyelids very heavily, avoiding the inner corners. Wide-set eyes: To make your eyes appear closer together, line the inner corners of your eye lids heavily, and avoid the outer corners. Small eyes: I love this trick... use white eyeliner and apply to the inner RIMS of your eye lids (the part between your lashes and your eye balls). You might have to slightly pull your eye lid out with your other hand. Make sure the brand you are using is safe and natural. Large eyes: You really don't even need eyeliner, as its main purpose is to enlarge the eyes. Avoid it altogether, or use a very light color, and smudge well. COLORS: Choosing the right color is easy. Everybody can use brown. If you just can't decide, then get a nice, medium brown and it will look just fine. If you want a more intense look and have stronger, darker coloring, go with black. If you feel black is too harsh and brown is too blah, try plum. This is what I use. I love a soft, brownish, raisin-y plum. Most people look great in this and it gives more interest to your face than just brown or black would. If you have cooler coloring, or gray hair, try a charcoal gray liner shade. Experiment with greens too. Most everybody can wear green, depending upon the shade. If you have really dark, exotic skin, try a shimmer metallic for a sultry look. And remember, if in doubt, choose a medium brown. Return from Eyeliner to Makeup Tips Return from Eyeliner to Mineral Makeup Help Home Page   |
