Time to Checker up!
First on the list is to find the appropriate clothing because once you paint your face you won't want to mess it up.
I would suggest a black and white ensemble. If you can find a checkered shirt or pants make sure it doesn't take away from the most important part of your costume... your face!
I would suggest keeping the shirt a solid black or white and adding checkered pants or accessories so the detail in the face can be seen.
Once you have found your outfit you will need black and white face paint. I recommend anything without mineral oil or other pore-clogging ingredients.
You want to achieve a full coverage so test water-based paints to make sure they can provide the saturation you desire.
Now that you've got your black and white paint you need to set up your painting station in a bathroom or outside just in case things get a little messy.
Things you will need will be; a brush, towel or paper towel, black eye-liner, your paint, water and a chair to sit on. First map out the face with simple vertical lines that are an equal distance apart. Then follow with horizontal lines that will create little or big squares. The size of the checker squares is up to you. I suggest fairly large squares about a square inch or two; this way it will be closer to the size of a checker board.
Fill in every other square with the alternating black and white all the way down the neck. Your finished result will be a checker mask and a great conversation piece for your Halloween Party!
