Baggy Eyes - Cover and Conceal with Mineral Makeup! Now, when talking about bags, I mean those droopy sags that hang under your eyes. These are a result of genetics or age. If you have puffy eyes, click here. The difference? Puffy eyes are worse... usually resulting from eating salty luncheon meats or hot dogs the day before, sleeping wrong, crying before going to sleep, NOT sleeping at all or fitfully, stress, etc. Rather than being just a droop under the eye, puffiness can overtake your whole eye area, including the lid, resulting in a swelled look. Lovely, I know. To cover those bags, you'll need two things: mineral foundation and concealer. The foundation should give good coverage and match your skin tone exactly. The concealer should give EXCELLENT coverage and be a shade or two lighter than your skin. Apply your foundation all over as usual. Conceal all other areas, like acne, age spots, etc. Now, for the eyes. Use a concealer brush and load it WELL with the concealer shade. Remember this needs to be LIGHTER than your skin tone, to help counteract the shadow the bag creates. Once you have the brush really loaded up with powder, begin sweeping from the inner corner of the eye, underneath the eye and out toward the temple. Then apply to the upper lid and up towards the brow bone. Smooth and blend well. It is okay if you look like a deer in the headlights at this point. We'll fix it. Do the same for the other eye. Basically you are just applying a thick layer of concealer all above and below the eye area. Now, take your foundation brush, like a kabuki, and apply your regular mineral foundation all over the eye area as well to help tone down the light color, while still maintaining the coverage and brightening effect of the concealer. Now for the best part. Depending upon the severity if your bags, you could stop here, apply your usual eye makeup, and be done. However, I find that most people with baggy eyes need a little trick to help diminish the look of that under eye bag. Take a small concealer brush, load it up again with the light concealer and apply ONLY UNDERNEATH the bag, where the shadow is cast. If applied correctly, this will camouflage the bag, as you can't "see" it without a shadow! If you like, apply a slightly darker shade than your foundation to the PUFF of the bag (the part that sticks out the most). Since this part usually has the most light hitting it, using a slightly darker shade on it alone, will help it to appear to recede. This technique is SO COOL! It really works. I use it every day!
